Education Minister attends National Economists Conference

Georgia’s eighth National Scientific Conference of Economists was held at Samtskhe-Javakheti State University, with the participation of Minister of Education, Science and Youth Givi Mikanadze, Georgia’s Ministry of Education and Science reported.

In his address, Mikanadze highlighted ongoing global economic processes, the challenges facing Georgia and the opportunities that could contribute to the country’s economic development.

According to Mikanadze, Georgia’s geographic location provides the country with a significant strategic advantage and creates substantial potential for development.

“The development of the Middle Corridor will create a number of new opportunities for Georgia. To fully capitalize on these opportunities, alongside the development of transport and other infrastructure, particular importance should be attached to knowledge, technological progress, innovation and strengthening human capital. In this regard, I would like to highlight the importance of regional universities, as they make a major contribution to the socio-economic development of their respective regions.

“Our goal is to provide regional universities with maximum support in disseminating modern knowledge, strengthening research activities and deepening international ties. This is precisely what the ongoing national reform of higher education is intended to achieve,” Mikanadze said.

The conference was dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the establishment of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia.

The event was also attended by Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth Zviad Gabisonia, representatives of local authorities, members of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, academic staff from higher education institutions, researchers from scientific and research institutes, young researchers and leading experts in the field.
