Vice Speaker Volski expects explanations from German Ambassador over his meeting with extremist groups' representatives

“We expect explanations from the German Ambassador over what it means to be involved in politics, including his meeting with representatives of extremist groups,” said Gia Volski, Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament.

According to Gia Volski, German Ambassador to Georgia Peter Fischer needs to verify the information released by the meeting participants “as the instruction for those people who are involved in the protest rallies.”

“The issues that processes of Iran, Nepal and such brutal confrontations are on the agenda and being reviewed in the opposition-called Revkoms, is nothing new. However, when you convene 30 people of different spheres, eclectic groups, diverse but oriented on a common goal, when the disorder of Iran or Nepal is considered as a case for Georgia, we should expect that this information, the meeting with Fischer, will be released.

Therefore, we expect explanations from the German Ambassador over what it means to be involved in politics, including his meeting with representatives of extremist groups. Moreover, we insist on his clarification of the information released by the meeting participants as an instruction for those who are involved in the protest rallies. We have serious suspicions that such talks took place with the German Ambassador, and yes, it will not be a surprise from an individual who is directly involved in the processes financially, politically and with his statements,” said Volski.

Imedi TV reported that German Ambassador Peter Fischer met several activists from the ongoing rallies on January 15. Imedi TV said that the meeting focused on protest financing, future strategy, including the scenario of Iran. The meeting participants confirmed the meeting with the German Ambassador, but claimed that Georgia’s European integration was the central topic at the meeting.
