Vice Speaker Volski: Commission must investigate pricing and determine whether sabotage is taking place
“A commission must investigate the pricing issue, because it is unacceptable that those who oversee the importing and distribution of goods in the country should be people who stand on the political field, who have entered the political arena, who constantly undermine the government and participate in sabotage,” stated the First Vice-Speaker of Parliament, Gia Volski.
According to him, the creation of a parliamentary commission is crucial.
“We have reason to believe that their role is significant in this regard as well, and not solely in this area. There was talk of sabotage, which Georgian businesses were purportedly planning against the government. Additionally, an attack was launched on the lari exchange rate. In reality, those involved in this activity appeared to be engaged in these processes. This underscores the necessity of establishing a parliamentary commission to deliver a clear verdict on what is happening and what we are dealing with.
It is unthinkable that you would attribute the price increases to VAT, as the increases are calculated excluding tax, the base price itself, and the costs incurred by the importer. There is a certain threshold beyond which suspicion is aroused as to whether sabotage is taking place,” declared Volski.
