Vice Speaker Kakhiani: Court to hold public hearings on constitutional lawsuit within 9 months

“The period allocated for the consideration of the lawsuit in the Constitutional Court has been set at nine months; however, we are hopeful that the hearing will take place sooner,” stated Vice-Speaker of Parliament, Giorgi Kakhiani, speaking to GPB First Channel.

Kakhiani explained that the lawsuit is backed by evidence that could serve as the basis for declaring three opposition parties unconstitutional.

“I believe the public understands best how a constitutional case should be evaluated. They are well aware of the extent of harm these three opposition parties have caused to the country. It was even the parliamentary majority’s responsibility to respond legally to such damaging policies. The only proper legal route is for the Constitutional Court to decide to declare these parties unconstitutional. The review period is set at nine months, but we remain hopeful that the case will be examined sooner. The lawsuit includes compelling evidence that could result in these parties being declared unconstitutional. The proceedings will be transparent and open to the public, allowing everyone to witness everything firsthand,” said Giorgi Kakhiani.
