Vice PM Mdinaradze: Knowing even little about Saakashvili’s guilt and still claiming his illegal detention means protecting your Georgian proxy

“When you know even a little about Saakashvili’s guilt and still claim that he is illegally detained, it signifies that you are indifferent to everything; the factual circumstances are of the utmost importance to you, and you are simply defending your proxy in Georgia out of personal interests,” said Vice Prime Minister Mamuka Mdinaradze in response to a journalist’s question regarding the Polish MEP’s appeal for Mikheil Saakashvili’s release.

As Mdinaradze pointed out, Saakashvili never truly represented Georgia; he represented external forces, and consequently, they are now defending him without any credible arguments.

“Don’t be surprised; this is a natural development. I, personally, find nothing surprising about it, as people tend to act in their own interests, especially when defending someone like him without any factual basis. When you are aware, even to a small extent, of Saakashvili’s guilt and still insist that he is illegally detained, it demonstrates a lack of concern for the truth; the factual reality is of the highest importance to you, and you are merely defending your proxy in Georgia for your own benefit. This is a normal phenomenon, just as any country would defend its representative abroad. Saakashvili has never represented Georgia; he has represented external forces. He was one of the main figures responsible for carrying out these influences; whether to conquer or sway another nation by using its own people, he was an active executor and agent of such actions. They are defending him naturally, and I do not find this to be a surprising story at all,” he stated.
