Vice PM Mdinaradze: Georgia will uphold constitutional principles and not equate expressions of opinion with insults
“In line with internationally accepted practice, Georgia will act based on constitutional principles and will not regard expressions of opinion and insults as equivalent events,” stated Vice Prime Minister and State Minister for Coordination of Law Enforcement Agencies, Mamuka Mdinaradze, to journalists.
He emphasised that citizens should be able to freely voice critical opinions, which he described as a “positive obligation of the state.”
“On one hand, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the law enforcement system are committed to ensuring that the weapon of polarisation is disregarded; on the other, citizens must retain the right to express critical views freely. This is a positive obligation of the state,” added Mamuka Mdinaradze.
