Vato Shakarishvili: Funds coming into Georgia for years used to finance revolutionary processes; funds were justifiably frozen
Vato Shakarishvili, a member of Neutral Georgia, says “Money has been coming into and circulating in Georgia for years, which is used to finance revolutionary processes in the country, attempts at coups, anti-state and anti-Georgian activities.”
“Among other things, the funds directly and publicly urged people to commit crimes and then promised them compensation or other legal assistance,” according to him.
“We hope that this is not the final move that investigating authorities take in response to our plea. We gave the prosecutor’s office documents that anybody may acquire legally. Apparently, there existed evidence that served as the basis for freezing these funds.
We also had concerns about other organisations, both local and international, including funds and financiers that several members of the new US administration have declared to be criminal organisations, including those behind groups in Georgia.
They were purchasing gas masks, pyrotechnics, and giving basic supplies to frontline personnel, implying that they were responsible for the attack against the state. Clearly, these money resources were justifiably frozen,” Shakarishvili remarked.
The prosecutor’s office revealed information today on the freezing of various foundations’ bank accounts.
