Using technology rightly for better service paramount, EBU's Wouter Quartier says

Wouter Quartier, Head of Digital Transformation and Platforms, says he had “a very good meeting” with the EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell this morning.

Quartier claims, “Ambassador understands very well the situation of the public broadcaster and understands how important it is to have good, and strong Public Broadcasting as part of the political and democratic process.”

“We had a good discussion about how important it is to have this broadcaster, a strong one in a digital world. That’s why we are here to do this process right. We are here to think about the role of public service media and how digital will help in this process. We just got a tour of how you’re going to go into full HD and new studios coming up in a few weeks, I think,” Wouter Quartier underscored.

Quartier believes “using the technology in the right way to have a better service to the public is paramount.”

“It is a big process. A lot of effort is going in. It is a technical part, that is the first part, the second part will be how to make sure to use the technology in the right way to have a better service to the public. How to make sure that you have great technology effort, you put digital-first, but you should have your audience maybe first now. So that is the next step now how you put your audience first, how to make sure you have a terrific service to the audience like using all the possibilities that digital gives,” he added.

Earlier today, Director General of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) Tinatin Berdzenishvili and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) delegation held a meeting with EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell.
