U.S. special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, discussed the ongoing cease-fire negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in an interview with ABC News.
Keith Kellogg reconfirmed President Donald Trump’s readiness to negotiate over one of Russia’s conditions, asking Western leaders to pledge in writing that NATO would not expand eastward.
“This is one of the issues that Russia will bring up, and it not only asks about Ukraine. We are talking about Georgia and Moldova. We say that we can comprehensively stop the expansion of NATO close to your borders,” he said.
According to Keith Kellogg, Ukraine’s NATO membership is not on the agenda.
“It is a fair concern, and we have said it repeatedly, that to us, Ukraine’s coming to NATO is not on the table. And we are not the only country that says that. I can probably give you NATO’s four other countries, and it takes 32 of 32 for Ukraine to come to NATO. We have seen other countries saying ‘We are not sure about that’,” he said.
