Papuashvili: I respect Mamuka Mdinaradze’s decision; people have every right to chart their own path

The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, expressed personal regret over Mamuka Mdinaradze’s departure from political life, whilst emphasising that he fully respects his colleague’s choice.

Papuashvili noted that Mdinaradze had personally outlined the reasons behind his decision to step down from frontline politics.

“He himself ruled out any potential insinuations that might have followed his decision. He held a very open and sincere briefing, providing you with the opportunity to hear his explanation directly. Naturally, on a personal level, it is a very regrettable decision for me, but I respect his choice. Individuals have every right to define their own political or professional path.

“There is no such thing as ‘too early’ or ‘too late’ in these matters. Decisions are made when they are made; there is no perfect moment or predetermined weather for it. A person reaches a decision when they feel it has come to maturity. No one from the outside can pass judgment on that,” Papuashvili stated.

For context, Mamuka Mdinaradze resigned as Minister of Regional Development and officially announced his retirement from political life on 27 August.
