UNM’s Tsitlidze: Gakharia, ex-super-powerful minister fled to Berlin, cannot speak of anyone’s responsibility

“If anyone is irresponsible and cowardly, it’s certainly the former super-powerful minister, as Georgian Dream representatives used to call him, who fled to Berlin. Gakharia cannot speak to anyone about responsibility,” declared Ana Tsitlidze, a member of the United National Movement opposition party.

According to Tsitlidze, it makes no difference whatsoever what position Giorgi Gakharia takes regarding October 4.

“Gakharia cannot speak to anyone at all about responsibility, because he himself simply got up irresponsibly and fled. Now he is preaching from Berlin to those people who are here in daily struggle. They fight against the regime with their own freedom, their own lives, their health, so if anyone in this process is irresponsible, if anyone is cowardly, it’s certainly the former super-powerful minister, as Georgian Dream representatives used to call him, who fled to Berlin. This process is very good because many things are crystallising, including on the opposition flank.

Every person, in this process, is now revealing themselves, their capabilities, and their motives. Gakharia’s position regarding October 4 is not interesting to me, but everyone should understand that October 4 is not a day dependent on one specific person’s desires. It makes no difference whatsoever what position Gakharia takes regarding October 4; he has openly said that he might even consider entering parliament.

That is, he has essentially admitted that he is prepared to betray this entire process to save his own skin. Even when he was still in Georgian Dream, I did not have a great impression of Gakharia, nor have I had one in opposition. Gakharia is also an ordinary part of that Russian project, which Bidzina Ivanishvili’s team represented at the time and has remained exactly the same Russian project here, in opposition. He has remained as a Trojan horse, and we are less interested in what these Chinese ‘shoes’ ordered from Temu in the form of Gakharia will say about October 4.

I knew one Paata Zakareishvili and Gia Khukhashvili, who made comments like mounted scarecrows; I’ve never seen them standing in the streets, yet from within, they preach to the entire nation. Now, there is a second one, the escaped Gakharia, locked in his room in Berlin, afraid to step outside for fear that a Georgian GD supporter might overtake him. This is not interesting to me at all,” noted Ana Tsitlidze.

The chairman of the Gakharia for Georgia party, Giorgi Gakharia, declared on one of Georgian media outlet: “Declaring revolution and peaceful overthrow after an electoral boycott, on October 4, at the appointed day, at the appointed place, at the appointed time, was the greatest gift to Georgian Dream, which used this madness to mask its limited legitimacy and show Georgian citizens what the alternative looks like.”
