UNM's Tsiskarishvili: Gakharia and his team still in parliament, keep mandates, state funding, and cooperation
“Giorgi Gakharia is still a parliamentarian. He and his faction have not renounced their mandates, continue to receive state funding, attend commission meetings, and cooperate as usual,” said Petre Tsiskarishvili, Secretary General of the United National Movement.
According to Tsiskarishvili, Gakharia’s party is hoping that all other political parties—particularly the United National Movement—will be banned so that only their opposition group remains on the political stage.
“There are serious concerns that his political group is counting on all other parties being banned—especially ours—so that they can monopolize the opposition space and attract all opposition votes. This idea is absurd. Even in dictatorships, such scenarios are unrealistic, and even if it were to happen, those votes won’t go to them,” he added.
He also criticized the parliamentary investigative commission, calling it a “circus” designed for PR purposes.
