UNM's Pavlenishvili: It is Chergoleishvili’s problem that she uses such vocabulary; I cannot take responsibility for individual’s uncultured remarks
“We are faced with a reality where people simply cannot stop criticising the United National Movement and Mikheil Saakashvili. They have failed to learn their lesson and have not realised that you cannot become Ivanishvili’s primary political opponent by constantly vilifying the main opposition force, Mikheil Saakashvili, and his party. You must achieve that through action,” stated United National Movement (UNM) member, Irakli Pavlenishvili.
Pavlenishvili expressed hope that this regrettable situation will change. Furthermore, he clarified that the United National Movement remains within the Opposition Alliance.
When questioned about Tamar Chergoleishvili’s recent statement, Pavlenishvili remarked that he “cannot be held responsible for an individual’s uncultured and unethical remarks.”
“Tamar Chergoleishvili says a great many things. It is her own problem that she uses such vocabulary; it is hardly mine, is it? We may witness plenty of unethical statements from political figures. Unlike them, however, I do not afflict the public with that kind of language. I cannot be held responsible for an individual’s uncultured, unethical remarks. That responsibility lies with the person themselves and, at most, their political team. As for remaining in the alliance generally, there was a very simple, tactical reason for it: this is a platform for cooperation among opposing, protesting forces, and that is why we are staying in the alliance for the time being,” Irakli Pavlenishvili noted.
For context, UNM member Ana Tsitlidze stated a few days ago: “Gvaramia used Saakashvili’s resources to build his own profile; we will not tolerate him wagging his finger at us. If anyone has plundered the United National Movement, it is him.”
Tamar Chergoleishvili, leader of the Federalists party, published a retaliatory post on social media in response to Ana Tsitlidze, writing: “These Banderlogs deny human agency; to them, everyone is cattle, whose power is granted only by a deranged political master.”
