UNM’s Parulava: Saakashvili is dissatisfied with those whose passivity weakens our shared struggle, including Opposition Alliance and UNM

“Mikheil Saakashvili is dissatisfied with those who, through their passivity, are not merely harming our shared struggle, but actively weakening it,” stated Lasha Parulava, a member of the United National Movement.

Parulava was commenting on a statement made by former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, who remarked that “the opposition, with a few exceptions, is inactive; they are either facing prosecution, sold out, or lounging on the beach holidaying abroad, unable to find the time to say a single word.”

“First and foremost, I completely agree with Mikheil Saakashvili, Putin’s personal captive and Ivanishvili’s political prisoner. He is a political captive of this country, as are our comrades. The struggle must go on. When so many political prisoners are behind bars, it is unacceptable for the opposition not to display the level of activity this political process demands. This is what Saakashvili is talking about, and it applies to everyone; it may well refer to us too, because we have a duty to the country, to the people, and to the political prisoners. That duty requires us to be active and to ensure this country is not turned into a crypto-laundromat for bloody Iranian-Russian money. In reality, we must change everything so that our youth have a future. We owe it to show greater activity, and we are working on this. We are active, and a concrete example of this was that while you expected to see a shattered United National Movement at the congress, you saw a united one instead. Mikheil Saakashvili is dissatisfied with those who, through their passivity, are not merely harming our shared struggle, but weakening it,” Parulava noted.

When asked whether Saakashvili’s remarks were aimed at members of the Opposition Alliance, Lasha Parulava stated: “That includes members of the Alliance.”

“You can look back at your own video coverage and see that the politicians who are in the Alliance, for example, and who were part of the political process in 2024, are missing; where have these people vanished to? Where did they go? This country belongs to everyone, and we must all fight for it. The United National Movement cannot be left to stand on the front lines of this fight alone,” Parulava said.
