UNM's Lasha Parulava: United democratic opposition can achieve more with shared vision

“The democratic opposition is united in two primary demands. The first is the release of political prisoners and an end to repression and terror; the second is the organisation of new, free, and fair elections, free from the influence of the Russian regime,” declared Lasha Parulava, a member of the United National Movement party.

According to Parulava, realising this objective depends on unity and a shared plan of action.

“We are already united in our goals; what remains is to take the necessary steps towards achieving them. While the democratic opposition is aligned in its demands, there are some differences in the approaches we take. However, if we develop a common plan, a shared vision, and clear steps forward, our struggle will be far more effective.

It is precisely what Zurab Japaridze advocates, with whom I not only agree but also stand in solidarity. We are prepared to take concrete measures.

Despite ongoing repression, terror, the imprisonment of political prisoners, and the captivity of political leaders, our fight persists. Regardless of the challenges posed by the Georgian Dream regime and Ivanishvili’s government, it is evident that resources are available, and the Georgian people possess the strength to mobilise them.

We must move towards action, demonstrating a united front on Rustaveli Avenue, so that Ivanishvili’s regime witnesses the strength of the Georgian people. This will be the key factor not only in its retreat but also in its ultimate defeat,” Parulava emphasised.

Zurab Japaridze, leader of Girchi-More Freedom, adds that discussions are ongoing among civil society and political groups to forge new visions and establish clear rules of engagement.
