UNM’s Bezhashvili calls for nationwide protest on October 4 to end regime and reclaim power
“October 4 is a day of mass public protest. The dictatorial regime must end, and the people must seize power in accordance with the Constitution,” declared Levan Bezhashvili, one of the leaders of the United National Movement (UNM).
He urged supporters and members of the United National Movement to participate in the upcoming rally on October 4.
“October 4 is a day of nationwide protest, when the Georgian people will take to the streets to voice their opposition to the dictatorial regime established by Ivanishvili. The country no longer has a functioning parliament, laws are disregarded, and courts have been undermined. Political parties and civil organisations are being dismantled, and democratic institutions have been effectively abolished. The public has no choice but to protest. Following the so-called elections and Russia’s ‘special operation’, October 4 will mark a collective stand against this oppressive regime.
The public needs to understand that October 4 is not merely an event organised by any political party. As the United National Movement, we call on our supporters, members, and all members of society to participate in this vital protest. Our party members and activists will stand alongside the Georgian people, and their voices will be heard at the rally.
The aim of the October 4 protest is unequivocal: the dictatorial regime must be ended. The people must take power into their own hands, in accordance with the Constitution. When the regime ignores the people’s rights to free elections, justice, and legal processes, when NGOs and political parties are abolished, and laws are passed solely to serve the interests of the Georgian Dream, resistance becomes not only justified but necessary. When justice and legality are absent, the people have both the right and the duty to protest.
The regime must fall on October 4. The Georgian people do not deserve a dictatorship,” said Levan Bezhashvili.
