UNM to hold congress this month

The United National Movement (UNM) is scheduled to hold a party congress at the end of this month. Delegates will elect the members of a temporary, collective body tasked with managing the party during a transitional phase.

Concurrently, preparations will begin for the election of a permanent party chairman. While the leadership race will be open to all interested candidates, no nominations have been put forward at this stage.

The transitional council will see imprisoned former President Mikheil Saakashvili serve as its Executive Director, with Nanuka Zhorzholiani appointed as its Secretary.
