MP Makhashvili: Saakashvili’s allies are already united; different ballot numbers change nothing about their shared agenda

“For years, all of them have been united around Mikheil Saakashvili and his ideology anyway. Their ballot numbers or colours may have given them different names, but in reality they were doing the same job and serving the same goal,” said MP Levan Makhashvili, chair of Parliament’s European Integration Committee.

He said that, yet again, they are failing to draw lessons from either Hungary or Serbia.

“Primitive comparisons like these show that these people are living under very deep illusions about one scenario or another. It’s not my job to teach them, but if they are interested, they could draw the right conclusions from Serbia or from Hungary. Their greatest flaw, compared to those countries, is that these parties and their entire alliance are utterly cut off from our national identity and the real interests of the people and the state. It is built entirely on emptiness and on foreigners’ interests. So no new idea or initiative can save their alliance; the public has already decided their fate. Hopefully the Constitutional Court will put a legal end to it. So Mikheil Saakashvili’s ‘deep, philosophical’ assessments are nothing new to the public, and they have certainly failed to learn from experience,” Makhashvili said.
