UNM: Georgian people to make their voice heard on November 28; historic path to inevitably end in victory
“On November 28, 2024, Russia’s fifth column in Georgia, in the form of Ivanishvili’s regime, through gross violation of Georgia’s Constitution and betrayal of national interests, publicly declared Georgia’s EU accession process to be buried,” a statement by the United National Movement party reads.
According to the UNM’s statement, on November 28, 2024, the Georgian people united as one fist and took to the streets to defend Georgia’s sovereignty, freedom, and European choice.
“One year on, Georgian society continues to steadfastly defend Georgia’s choice for a free, dignified, European future. Ivanishvili’s Russian regime, through mass repressions, the imprisonment of hundreds of Georgia’s worthy citizens and political leaders, the destruction of civil society, the abolition of political parties, attempts to violate academic freedom, and the prohibition of freedom of speech and expression, is trying to sow fear and hopelessness in society, to impoverish and drive our worthy fellow citizens from the country. To sow fear and hopelessness, and simultaneously to please Russia, Ivanishvili’s regime has once again moved Georgia’s third president, Mikheil Saakashvili, from a medical penitentiary facility back to prison in his fifth year of captivity.
This cruel spiral of the Russian Dream, which aims to destroy the Georgian state and the Georgian people, will not break the historic courage of the Georgian people and their aspiration towards the free, European world. On November 28, the Georgian people will again make their voice heard on this historic path, which will inevitably end in victory!
The United National Movement, the main political force fighting for Georgia’s European choice and the principal opponent of Russian imperialism in Georgia, together with all like-minded political parties, civil organisations, and the majority of Georgia’s citizens, once again stands proudly in the ranks of patriots assembled for Georgia’s salvation.
We call upon all patriots of Georgia: on November 28, at 19:00, let us gather at Tbilisi State University and proceed by march to the Parliament building. Let us make the voice of free, European Georgia heard throughout the entire civilised world,” the statement reads.
