UNM Chair: French Ambassador should be informed not only by GD narratives, but individuals formerly in Georgian diplomatic service
“France-Georgia bilateral relations are very significant. The French Ambassador should be informed not only by GD narratives, but also by individuals formerly in the Georgian diplomatic service but currently leading activities in the civil sector,” said Tina Bokuchava, Chair of the United National Movement (UNM) party.
The UNM chair remarked on the released information related to the covert meeting between Sergi Kapanadze, Head of the think tank GRASS (Georgia’s Reforms Associates) and Olivier Courteaud, French Ambassador to Georgia, in the Ambassador’s residential house.
“Sergi Kapanadze served as Deputy Foreign Minister and was one of the outstanding diplomats serving Georgia’s national interests. This is diplomatic ethics that details of the meeting should not be disclosed. I don’t know why this is unusual for you. Anyone who has served in good faith in the diplomatic service of any country knows very well that leaking details from meetings is a violation of all diplomatic protocols.
A private house is Ivanishvili’s so-called business centre, but the Ambassador’s residence is an official residence. This is the place where representatives of a country in another country should host all guests, with whom the establishment of relations is significant for their country.
France-Georgia bilateral relations are very significant. The French Ambassador should be informed not only by GD narratives, but also by individuals formerly in the Georgian diplomatic service but currently leading activities in the civil sector. Therefore, there is nothing unusual about this meeting,” she said.
