Unity-National Movement says five election observers detained, demands their release
“Arrests have begun, with five members of the Guardians of European Votes detained illegally,” Giorgi Vashadze, a leader of the Unity – National Movement, condemned the recent arrests of election observers.
“This is an illegal act, and we demand the immediate release of the detainees. The way the Georgian Dream government behaves is clear evidence of our approaching victory. They attack observers and intimidate those who resist manipulation. Now, they have escalated to arrests, detaining five individuals from the Guardians of European Votes without justification. This must end now,” he said.
Vashadze urged the police to refrain from further illegal actions, emphasizing that all activities are being recorded. “The violence will have legal consequences,” he warned.
“Once again, we demand the immediate release of the detainees. This act is unlawful. I call on the public to respond to this violence with increased activity and turnout at polling stations. We must guide Georgia toward the European Union and decisively reject these isolationists. Maximum mobilization is crucial as we approach victory. Thank you to everyone who steadfastly defends our votes against this machine of falsification,” he stated.
Vashadze concluded, “I urge the leaders of the ‘Dream’ to accept defeat and acknowledge that they will lose this election. Refrain from illegal activities; we will see this victory through. Your time in power is over. Step aside and allow the opposition to take charge, as pro-Russian politicians will never prevail in this country.”
