UAG Director: AMD Sigma selected to prepare feasibility study for new Vaziani airport

International consultancy AMD Sigma, winner of the tender backed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), is currently preparing the feasibility study for the development of the new Vaziani International Airport, according to United Airports of Georgia (UAG).

Levan Moseshvili, Director General of United Airports of Georgia, stated that company representatives have already conducted their first site visit to the Vaziani airfield, surveying the former military site and inspecting the existing infrastructure.

“Today, company representatives made their initial field visit to the Vaziani airfield. They surveyed the former military site and assessed the current conditions on the ground. AMD Sigma representatives are scheduled to meet with officials from government agencies, as well as stakeholders from the private sector and the aviation industry, to ensure the study they produce is fully comprehensive. This document will be a fundamental cornerstone for the new airport’s development, laying the ground for Vaziani to establish itself as a major international hub in the region,” declared Levan Moseshvili.

He added that experts from AMD Sigma will hold a series of consultations with key project stakeholders across government bodies, the private sector, and the wider aviation industry.

“The objective of these meetings and site visits is to conduct a detailed assessment of current conditions and requirements, defining the optimal development model for the new international airport in line with stakeholder perspectives.

AMD Sigma is a German, Berlin-based international consultancy specialising in strategic airport development, master planning, and feasibility studies. The company has been part of Munich Airport International since 2019,” the statement from United Airports of Georgia read.
