U.S. publication Grape Collective features Georgia: The Birthplace of Wine Looks to the Future
The American publication Grape Collective has published a feature article titled “Georgia: The Birthplace of Wine Looks to the Future”. The piece was produced in collaboration with Glodow Nead Communications, the U.S.-based PR agency contracted by Georgia’s National Wine Agency.
The author of the article, American journalist Lisa Denning, visited Georgia in May this year. As part of a press tour organised with the support of the National Wine Agency, Denning and other U.S. media representatives attended events celebrating National Wine Day on May 8. The delegation also toured vineyards across the Kakheti and Kartli regions, exploring both Georgia’s centuries-old winemaking traditions and its contemporary production practices.
“In many ways, Georgia’s wine story is still being written. The world’s oldest wine culture may be best understood not by looking backwards, but by paying attention to what its winemakers are doing today,” Lisa Denning writes.
According to the National Wine Agency, the article places a particular emphasis on Qvevri wine, the sheer diversity of Georgia’s indigenous grape varieties, amber wines, Georgian gastronomy, and the positioning of Georgian wine on the international market. The author highlights that the traditional Georgian method of making Qvevri wine earned UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status in 2013.
