The U.S. Embassy in Georgia marked the 34th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States and Georgia, noting that on March 24, 1992, the two countries established official ties, laying the foundation for decades of cooperation and partnership.
According to the embassy, the United States recognized Georgia’s independence in December 1991, marking an important step toward deepening bilateral relations.
“Thirty-four years ago today, March 24, 1992, the United States and Georgia established diplomatic relations, laying the foundation for decades of cooperation and partnership between our countries.
The United States recognized Georgia’s independence in December 1991, and this step paved the way for further strengthening our relationship.
In an address to the American people, the White House noted that this would include opening a U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi as soon as possible and supporting Georgia’s path toward membership in international financial institutions,” the embassy said.
