Two subsidised charter flights operated in the early hours from Tbilisi International Airport to Riga to back the Georgian national basketball team ahead of their crucial quarter-final match at Eurobasket 2025. The initiative was organised by the government, with the assistance of the Georgian Airports Association (GAA).

According to the Georgian Airports Association, these fully booked flights were operated by Air Baltic, specifically tailored to facilitate fans attending the momentous game.

“The flights were arranged to coincide with the Georgian national team’s quarter-final match against Finland, scheduled for today at 18:00 Georgian time,” a spokesperson explained.

Only passengers holding a valid ticket to attend the Eurobasket 2025 match at Tbilisi International Airport before departure were eligible to travel on these subsidised flights.

The Georgian Airports Association confirmed that they will oversee ticket sales monitoring and passenger registration at both Tbilisi and Riga airports to ensure a smooth process.
