Turkish Interior Minister: I spoke with Georgian Interior Minister, who is traveling to plane crash site
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Erlikaya has responded to the crash of a Turkish military transport aircraft in Georgia.
He stated that he had spoken with Georgian Interior Minister Gela Geladze regarding the incident.
“I learned with deep sorrow that our C130 military cargo plane, belonging to our Ministry of National Defense, which was on its way to our country from Azerbaijan, crashed on the Georgia-Azerbaijan border. Search and rescue efforts are ongoing. I spoke by phone with Georgian Interior Minister Gela Geladze. The Minister is also on his way to the scene. I offer my best wishes to our dear nation,” Ali Erlikaya wrote on social media.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a Turkish military aircraft crashed in the Sighnaghi municipality, approximately five kilometers from the Georgian border. Preliminary information indicates that the plane was flying along the Azerbaijan–Turkey route.
As reported by Sakaeronavigatsia, both Ganja Airport and the Turkish authorities have been informed about the incident. Additionally, the Turkish Ministry of Defense has confirmed that a Turkish C-130 transport aircraft crashed on the Georgia–Azerbaijan border.
