Turkish Foreign Ministry extends condolence to Georgia

Turkish Foreign Ministry extended condolence to Georgia and the Georgian people over the July 29 tragedy in Gudauri that claimed lives of 8 people.

“We are saddened to learn that a helicopter crashed during an emergency rescue operation today (29 July) in Gudauri, Georgia and the 8 crew on board lost their lives.

We extend our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and to the friendly Government and people of our neighbour Georgia,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

A border police helicopter on a rescue operation in Gudauri crashed, killing eight people. The rescue helicopter, which had been called to assist paragliders fell into the ravine, lost control, and crashed in a ravine. All eight people on board, the crew, rescuers, and first aid responders died in the crash. One paraglider was injured and a foreign tourist died.
