Nika Gvaramia: Iago Khvichia is making excuses like an exposed agent; he will dismantle the UNM beyond repair

“The United National Movement has handed itself over to the most notorious rogues and liars in Georgian politics, a choice that will cost them dearly,” wrote Nika Gvaramia, co-leader of the Ahali party, in a social media post.

“I am listening to Iago Khvichia on Formula TV with Giorgi Targamadze. Astounding as it is, these things happen. What we are seeing is the textbook self-justification of an exposed agent, riddled with endless lies that fail the most basic test of common sense and logic.

Mark my words: that man will dismantle the United National Movement (UNM), which he now claims as his ally while boasting about his efforts to reconcile Misha [Saakashvili] and Bidzina [Ivanishvili]. He will dismantle it so thoroughly that it will never stand on its feet again.

Perhaps that is the explicit objective, or perhaps he is opportunistically exploiting the helplessness of a crumbling UNM and a drowning man’s desperate urge to clutch at straws. I do not know, nor do I care to probe deeply; it is not my problem.

Let Misha continue appointing disreputable henchmen as party leaders and pursuing Ahali with immoral, filthy lies. Far from merely watching his party collapse around him, this stooge, funded by Georgian Dream money, will likely use future interviews to boast about acting as a messenger between Saakashvili and Bidzina, exposing the exact contents of those messages for all to see.

When that happens, no amount of squawking and pecking among these roosters will restore a shattered reputation. That isn’t my concern either: the UNM handed themselves on a silver platter to the most distinguished scoundrels and charlatans in Georgian politics. I suspect that choice will cost them dearly,” Gvaramia wrote.
