The Tbilisi State University awarded journalist Ramilia Aliyeva, Head of the Diversity Georgia Group of the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB), with Gold Medal.

The journalist received the award for speaking Georgian literary language fluently at the special event dedicated to Mother Language Day held at the TSU.

Liana Markaryan, a journalist of GPB Program New Day also received the Gold Medal from the TSU Rector for her fluently spoken Georgian language.

The awards also went to Ambassadors of Germany, Lithuania, Great Britain, Italy and Austria to Georgia.

The TSU exhibited archive documents, photos and manuscripts preserved at the university museum fund during the event, among them the 1918 October Law on State Language signed by Noe Zhordania (a Georgian journalist and Menshevik politician) and Nikoloz Chkheidze (a member of the Constituent Assembly of Georgia).

TSU rector Giorgi Sharvashidze, Language State Department Head Giorgi Alibegashvili, diplomatic corps, legislative and executive authorities, scientific circles and students attended the event.
