Georgian fighter Ilia Topuria claimed the UFC lightweight championship with a victory over Brazil’s Charles Oliveira in Las Vegas, becoming just the 10th fighter in the organisation’s history to hold titles in two divisions.
The 28-year-old extended his perfect professional record to 17-0, securing his ninth consecutive UFC victory in what was a dominant performance against the former champion.
Topuria, who previously held the featherweight title, joins an elite group of dual-division champions in mixed martial arts’ premier organisation.
