Teona Akubardia: Commission attendance is individual responsibility; Gakharia to decide in due course
“Whether to attend or not attend the so-called commission meeting is a matter of individual responsibility. We have made our assessments, and Giorgi Gakharia will make his personal decision in due course,” Teona Akubardia, the Gakharia for Georgia party member, stated.
Akubardia asserted that the investigation into the events of June 20 is merely a propaganda effort aimed at preserving power and wealth.
“The so-called commission led by Tea Tsulukiani in this illegitimate parliament exemplifies the extent of unfairness within Ivanishvili’s regime. All the cases they have reviewed and plan to review, even after 13 years, underscore how judges and prosecutors involved in the most high-profile cases have been promoted and granted more opportunities to serve the regime.
Giorgi Gakharia will ultimately decide whether to attend the commission meeting. The Strasbourg Court has directed the country to investigate the June 20 incident, a task that Ivanishvili’s regime failed to perform, even though Gakharia was no longer part of the team, and it would have been politically advantageous to do so.
This clearly serves propaganda purposes, aimed at maintaining power and wealth, and it once again highlights the stark reality that Ivanishvili has created in violation of the country’s Constitution,” she concluded.
