Tbilisi Mayor Kaladze: Wishing peace for Ukraine; they did not deserve to suffer as they do today
“I do not wish the enemy to find themselves in the situation Ukraine is currently facing. It is an extremely difficult and painful circumstance. I want to extend my heartfelt wishes for peace to the Ukrainian people; Ukraine truly did not deserve this,” said Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze.
The mayor added that the Georgian government is deeply sorrowful for the Ukrainian people; however, its primary focus remains on safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and the interests of the Georgian nation.
“Of course, we are genuinely touched by the suffering of the Ukrainian people. However, first and foremost, we think of and care for our own country and its people. Accordingly, our policy must be directed towards doing everything possible to protect Georgia, its sovereignty, and the interests of the Georgian people. We must ensure that we do not find ourselves in the same situation as Ukraine today, a situation we have been warned about, blackmailed over, threatened with, and pressured into joining sanctions or opening a second front. Through prudent policy, pragmatic vision, and decisive steps, we have managed to maintain peace and safeguard our national interests,” Kaladze stated.
