Tbilisi Mayor Kaladze: Those who serve foreign interests and act as agents have no political future in Georgia
“When you are in politics, and you serve a foreign country, when you represent an agency of foreign influence, you have absolutely no political prospects or chances whatsoever,” replied Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze when asked by a journalist about the Opposition Alliance’s prospects and its meetings held in the regions.
The Mayor stated that the Georgian people view the situation with clarity and that, as a result, the Opposition Alliance lacks both the resources and the prospects for success.
“I think we can all see that the opposition has no resources whatsoever. They have been reduced to nothing, and there is a perfectly good explanation for that: when you are in politics, and you serve a foreign country, when you represent an agency of foreign influence, you naturally have no political prospects or chances of any kind. The Georgian people see very clearly, they assess the situation as it is, they see who is doing what, what attitude each person has towards Georgia, and what interests they serve. Accordingly, we all know perfectly well where these people take their orders from, who their benefactors are, and what instructions they are given. They have no political resources and no chance of achieving anything. I am not particularly interested in their activities, but those engaged in activities hostile to this country, representing foreign interests, engaged in treasonous conduct, have no chance whatsoever. They can go wherever they please,” Kaladze said.
Asked about the internal tensions within the alliance, the Mayor noted that Georgia has seen many opposition coalitions in recent years, all of which have swiftly fallen apart.
“It makes no material difference whether they stand on a single platform or splinter apart. We have seen various such coalitions in recent years, and they collapse just as quickly as they form. If we look at these people in general: who they are, what they represent, what their past holds, how they conduct their lives today, we all know everything: where they take their orders from, what their principal motivations and objectives are, and that none of it is for the good of Georgia or the Georgian people. They have their own agendas and benefactors, and those behind the scenes pursue specific interests regarding Georgia. Recently, there have been direct calls for involvement in the war, along with resolutions explicitly supporting participation in the sanctions regime. We all know what that would have brought upon Georgia and upon the future of our country. Had Georgia been governed by a leadership controlled from abroad, it would have been made to do all of it, and it would have been catastrophic for this country. That is why the people see very clearly who is who. These people have no resources and no prospects. They cannot even manage their own unity. They gathered together yesterday, declared their alliance, cannot bring themselves to trust one another, were told from outside that this is what they must do, and you can see for yourselves how it all ends,” Kaladze declared.
