Tbilisi Mayor: European bureaucrats face defeat in Georgia

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze asserts that European bureaucrats—embodied today by the radical opposition—have faced defeat in Georgia and are unwilling to accept this reality. Kaladze made these remarks in response to a question regarding the resolution adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

“The face of those bureaucrats currently threatening Georgia and its government is reflected in the radical opposition, a small group that has taken to the streets. These individuals cannot come to terms with their defeat. European bureaucrats have been vanquished in Georgia because the Georgian people will not permit anyone to exploit our national interests.

We have witnessed numerous examples of this, and we remember all too well the painful events of 2008 when Georgia’s interests were manipulated. We lost territories, villages were destroyed, infrastructure was devastated, and our peaceful citizens and soldiers were killed. I would not wish upon our enemies what has transpired in Ukraine. These have been the most harrowing experiences in recent years. Thus, we stand steadfast in defending our nation and its interests,” Kaladze stated.
