Tbilisi Mayor criticizes June 26 debates in PACE

“I wonder what the decision would be if politicians conducted themselves the same way in their own countries,” said Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, commenting on the debates held on the Georgian issue during the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on June 26.

Kaladze clarified that some politicians disregarded the requirements of the parliamentary temporary investigation commission, which responded by the law.

“Making such statements is utterly incomprehensible. They claimed that black was white. The public is aware of the reality: these individuals committed a crime. They refused to attend the investigation commission’s meeting, and the law stipulates the consequences in such cases. The government has taken appropriate measures accordingly.

Recent statements we’ve heard suggest blackmail, mislead society, and reveal double standards. I genuinely wonder what the outcome would be if politicians acted similarly in their own countries,” he stated.
