Tbilisi Mayor calls Kaja Kallas's statement on support for Georgian people as "hypocritical," serving specific political agenda
“These statements amount to mere verbal nonsense. Let’s not forget their comments regarding candidate status, where they said, ‘We remain loyal to the Georgian people; you are a strong people, but you have a bad government,'” stated Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze while commenting on the statements made by Kaja Kallas, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.
When asked to comment on Kallas’s statements, in which the EU high representative criticized Georgia’s government while expressing full support for the Georgian people, Kaladze emphasized that the government, elected by the majority of Georgians, will not allow anyone to cause disorder in the country. He described Kallas’s statement about continuing support for the Georgian people as “hypocritical” and serving certain political purposes.
“The majority of our country’s population chose the Georgian Dream, marking number 41. Why? Because Georgian Dream is the Georgian government – the team that protects the country’s interests and does not allow marginalized groups, both inside and outside the country, to use the country for their dirty intentions and create a situation similar to what we unfortunately see in Ukraine. You’ve probably heard Trump’s statements about Ukraine, where the situation is dire. Therefore, these statements that ‘we stand beside the Georgian people’ are hypocritical. Today, those trying to create chaos and confrontation, those financing radical groups and extremist organizations – what we saw a few days ago was all externally controlled,” Kaladze stated.
The mayor also responded to the EU representative’s statement regarding Salome Zourabichvili, noting that Georgia already has a new president.
“The country has a new president. We have seen Salome Zourabichvili’s actions, which are anti-state and expressed in specific actions against the country,” Kaladze declared.
