Tbilisi Mayor anticipates embassies remain silent on attacks against police
“Don’t expect any embassy to condemn the attacks on police officers,” stated Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze in response to questions regarding the injuries sustained by law enforcement during recent public protests in Tbilisi.
Kaladze described the tumultuous events in Georgia’s capital over the past several months as having been “orchestrated from abroad.”
“Do not anticipate that embassies will issue any statements. The unrest witnessed on the streets of Tbilisi has been financed internationally. It represented a political manoeuvre—a calculated attempt to orchestrate a coup d’état.
Thus, do not expect any embassy to denounce the assaults on police officers. The chaos, marked by the launching of firecrackers and so-called Molotov cocktails, was undeniably supported by foreign funds and constituted a revolutionary script conceived from outside our borders. However, this attempt has failed, as the state and all its institutions continue to function effectively,” he asserted.
