Tbilisi hosts meeting of TRACECA national secretaries

Tbilisi welcomed a meeting of the national secretaries from TRACECA (Europe-Caucasus-Asia International Transport Corridor) participant countries, chaired by Guram Guramishvili, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

The agenda included discussions on improving border checkpoints within the transport corridor and the digitalization of railway and road cargo transportation operations.

The national secretaries agreed to continue their collaboration to further enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of the Transport Corridor.

“In the first ten months of 2024, a total of 23.5 million tons of cargo were transported by land in Georgia under international shipments, representing a 3.5 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. Additionally, Georgian maritime ports processed 11.1 million tons of cargo, reflecting an 8.0 per cent increase.

From January to October 2024, the number of containers shipped through the Middle Corridor from China to/from Georgia reached 10,848 TEU, which is 13 times more than during the same period in 2023,” stated the Ministry of Economy.
