Speaker urges everyone who is convicted for committing violence against country not to trust foreign politicians

“Those who admit committing the crime against the country and takes committment that he will never inflict harm on the country at the instruction of foreign country representatives, the state will be loyal and humane,” Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili told reporters.

According to Papuashvili, the October 4 organizers left jails cowardly, leaving behind them the very individuals they incited to commit violence, people who are now serving sentences.

“I want to urge them not to trust foreign forces, foreign politicians, foreign diplomats and representatives of foreign organisations. Why? They witnessed how they motivated them to commit violence. The spokesperson of the European Commission welcomed the October 4 announced violence. No representative of the EC has apologized. They motivated them to commit violence and left them in jail to serve prison sentences.

In the end, the only side which will stand by them will be the Georgian state. The Prosecutor’s Office agress to conclude plea bargains with them. This is the attitude of the Georgian state. We do not treat them the way foreign instigators treated them, luring them onto the barricades only to leave them behind in prison. We treat them as children of our own country, for it is a source of genuine concern for us when someone has to serve a sentence in prison.

I once again urge everyone who is convicted for committing violence against country not to trust ambassadors of foreign countries, foreign politicians. They will all deceive you, and the only side which will stand by you will be the Georgian state. This has been confirmed many times. Foreigners will abandon you in prisons cowardly, while Georgia and the Georgian government will stand by you,” he said.
