MP Irakli Kadagishvili: Add them or remove them, nothing will save the collective UNM
“Whether you put them in or take them out, nothing will save the collective National Movement,” declared Irakli Kadagishvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Self-Government.
According to Kadagishvili, the Opposition Alliance’s attempts to distance themselves from the UNM do nothing to alter public perception or substance in the eyes of the Georgian people.
“The public knows full well what the collective National Movement is. Whether the alliance tries to distance itself from the UNM, whitewash its image, or cast blame, it changes neither who they truly are nor how the public sees them. Their internal games and squabbles do not change the bigger picture.
Whether they brand themselves an alliance or anything else, they remain an opposition devoid of substance. The Georgian people defined their substance in the 2024 elections, but they chose to reject that on orders from abroad. They held a secondary, backup plan to execute a coup d’état, which is why they renounced the mandates that the Georgian people granted them in Parliament. There, too, they suffered a fiasco.
Consequently, they are empty today, but this lack of substance and their harmful actions against the state and the constitution must receive a proper legal assessment. That is precisely what is taking place in the Constitutional Court. Time and again, they have committed grave strategic blunders, not because they acted on the instructions of the Georgian people, but because they followed foreign directives. This is the outcome they brought upon themselves through their own actions,” Irakli Kadagishvili stated.
For context, the Opposition Alliance updated its Facebook page with a new photo, which no longer bears the United National Movement logo.
