Tbilisi fish smoking plant shut down by National Food Agency over critical hygiene failures
Inspectors from the Tbilisi Department of the National Food Agency have shut down operations at a fish smoking plant operated by Kobi Fish Ltd (located at No. 62 Kiziki Street, Tbilisi) following an official regulatory inspection.
According to the agency, the inspection uncovered a record of critical and non-critical safety failures, including the presence of expired food products alongside severe breaches of hygiene standards, labelling requirements, and traceability rules. Furthermore, it was established that the business operator was running the facility without being registered on the official Registry of Economic Activities.
In accordance with national legislation, the business operator has been fined, and all manufacturing processes have been suspended until these critical failures are fully rectified.
