Tbilisi City Court to review joint complaint by Strong Georgia, Unity-National Movement, and GYLA against CEC
Tbilisi City Court is reviewing the joint complaint filed by the Strong Georgia coalition, the Unity-National Movement, and the Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) against the Central Election Commission (CEC).
The plaintiffs seek to annul the summary reports from the October 26 parliamentary elections, compiled by the precinct commissions, citing violations of vote secrecy.
The Unity-National Movement has called for the questioning of commission members, experts, and specialists regarding the audit report and the examination of additional evidence.
According to Tina Bokuchava, Chair of the United National Movement (UNM) party, three constitutional principles were violated at all polling stations: vote secrecy, free will, and universality.
Additionally, Bokuchava alleges that the CEC replaced the Smartmatic voting devices with low-quality markers on Election Day, leaving marks on the election ballots.
“This is an attempt to undermine Georgia’s European future. Judge Iveri Abashidze can either enter recent Georgian history as a defender of the Constitution, law, and European aspirations or assist Ivanishvili in seizing the stolen elections,” Bokuchava stated.
