Tbilisi City Court rules imprisonment to Nino Datashvili for assaulting court security officer

The Tbilisi City Court ruled imprisonment in the case of civil activist Nino Datashvili as a punishment measure for assaulting the court security officer while performing his professional duties.

The prosecutor demanded imprisonment alleging there was a threat of reoccurrence of crime and pressuring witnesses.

The defence side demanded the imposition of bail in the amount of 20 thousand GEL. The security officer said he was a victim as he sustained body injuries during the attack.

Security officers called for order at the June 9 trial which Nino Datashvili did not obey and verbally and physically assaulted the officer. The police detained Datashvili on June 20.
