Tamar Chugoshvili: PACE rejected Russian pressure in financial terms
PACE rejected Russian pressure in financial terms, – the First Vice Speaker, Tamar Chugoshvili stated in Strasbourg.
“The report of the CoE Secretary General, Thorbjørn Jagland reveals sundry issues and first of all, it is that the tension between the EP and Monitoring Committee shall be necessarily discharged as promptly as possible. Next year, we have to elect the new Secretary General and this process will be paramount. We shall find the noble and dignified candidate facilitating CoE to solve the existing problems”, – Tamar Chugoshvili said.
The Secretary General reveals the Russian problem in terms of reduction of funds.
“For two days he stresses that if the problem with Russia is not eliminated, the organization will encounter the financial problems. I believe that CoE shall not be measured with these categories and I am glad that this position was shared by the PACE – rejected Russian pressure in financial terms and expressed the position that CoE might have in this situation in regards with Russia”, – She added.
