“We are determined to continue supporting the democratic and European-minded forces,” said Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Maria Malmer Stenergard, when presenting the 2026 Statement of Foreign Policy in the parliament.
“Sweden deeply laments the current developments in Georgia – at the same time, we are determined to continue supporting the democratic and European-minded forces that are present there,” she said.
According to the Swedish FM, many countries are now knocking on the EU’s door. They want to be part of a free Europe and the world’s largest single market.
“It is in our interest to help the candidate countries make progress towards joining the Union,” she said.
