The Georgian Orthodox Church celebrates Mtskhetoba, Svetitskhovloba today.
Catholicos Patriarch of Whole Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II delivered the festive liturgy at Svetiskhoveli Cathedral (‘the Living Pillar Cathedral’) in Mtskheta town, ancient capital of Georgia.
Visitors of Svetitskhoveli Cathedral underwent through thermal screening. They were required to wear medical face masks and observe social distancing rule.
President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili, Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, Parliament Speaker Archil Talakvadze and Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze attended the festive church service.
Svetitskhovloba holiday is celebrated twice a year, on October 14 and July 13.
