Strategy Aghmashenebeli's Vashadze sees new elections, release of political prisoners, coalition government as solution to crisis

“Georgis needs a way out of the crisis that will unite resolutions to political, economic and security problems. The first steps are new elections, the release of political prisoners and the formation of a coalition government,” said Giorgi Vashadze, leader of the Strategy Aghmashenebeli party.

According to Vashadze, Georgia’s getting out of crisis is possible “only through joint efforts.” He believes the second step should be the restoration of normal relations with the European Union and the U.S. and “keeping close cooperation with them.”

“Only with strong allies will Georgia restore its place in the international area and receive more protection and security that is vitally significant for our future. Our country should not be left alone, unprotected. It is enough to change Ivanishvili’s violent regime, and the process of Georgia’s accession to the European Union will begin in an accelerated manner, which will give Georgian citizens more prospects, income, and security. But what is happening today – the isolation of Georgia by the regime is treason. I repeat that there is a way out, but Ivanishvili and his violent regime block it,” he said.
