Strategy Aghmashenebeli's Manjgaladze: October 4 march to be peaceful; we join Georgian people

“I don’t know which direction the protesters will take on October 4; we are not the organisers, but I can assure you that the march will be peaceful,” said Paata Manjgaladze, leader of the Strategy Agmashenebeli movement.

According to him, October 4 should mark one of the most pivotal moments.

“We are speaking of a demonstration involving tens of thousands of Georgian citizens. The organisers are calling it a national congress. Let me emphasise once again: we are not the organisers, but we support this demonstration. The people gathering will declare that the illegitimate regime must be changed. I cannot predict whether the demonstrators will head towards Parliament, the chancellery, or another location, but I am confident it will be a peaceful march.

Paata Burchuladze, alongside the Rustaveli Avenue movement, is one of the organisers of this event. October 4 should be a defining moment when tens of thousands, perhaps even a hundred thousand Georgians, will make it clear that this cannot continue. The regime has planned a sham election, but the people are organising a national congress as a true show of popular power,” Manjgaladze explained.

When asked whether there might be picketing on election day, Manjgaladze responded:

“There are many possibilities, but I assure you that ultimately, the decision will rest with the source of authority, the Georgian people themselves. We intend to honour the will of the people. The Strategy Aghmashenebeli will stand with the Georgian people. No one plans to run away or hide; we will be there with the Georgian people, on the frontline and not rearward.”
