Today marks 101st anniversary of the Red Army invasion of Georgia in 1921. Flags are lowered to half-mast at Foreign Ministry and diplomatic missions abroad.
The Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic was established on February 25, 1921. That day, the Red Army entered Georgian capital Tbilisi and installed a communist government.
Soviet Occupation Day is observed annually on February25. The memorial day was established in 2010 by the decree of the Georgian parliament.
