SSSG reports illegal detention of Georgian citizen by Russian occupation forces near Zemo Khviti
The State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) has reported that representatives of the Russian occupation forces have unlawfully detained a Georgian citizen near the village of Zemo Khviti, in Gori Municipality [near occupied Tskhinvali].
According to the SSSG, upon receiving information about the incident, the agency promptly activated a “hotline” in coordination with the European Union Monitoring Mission.
“We immediately informed the Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions and our international partners about this latest case of illegal detention. All available mechanisms have been mobilised to secure the swift release of the detained Georgian citizen, and the occupying forces bear full responsibility for their actions,” the SSSG stated.
